As part of the Parish of the West Coast we work in conjunction with our five sister churches to implement Parish and Diocesan Policies. ...... whist exploring and developing our own individual character and personality that's linked with that of our local community, the natural environment around us, and the Celtic heritage of this amazing this place. A small church exploring new ways of being Church in a small community.
The weather and the landscape are dominating features in our lives at Dalby: the landscape invites us to be part of it, and inevitably the weather challenges us in our resolve ! Some of our worship includes times like Easter morning, on top of Cronk ny aree Laa for sunrise; or on the beach for Pentecost, or we've run Taize workshops in the woods and, family workshops for bird identification . And at other times we snuck in by warmth of the fireside, with unaccompanied worship, or sharing the journey of discipleship with The Chosen, or Pete Grieg's Prayer course.... On a daily basis our church is locally managed, and organised solely by volunteers, it runs 100% from donations given, and funds raised. The daily management of our church is through our Local Church Steering Group (The LCC) An amazing group of people, members of our worshiping church, who meet every other month to check out and share
"When in doubt Eat cake! "
The Friends of Dalby Church : The events and fundraising activities for the restoration and maintenance of the building are organised through "The Friends of St James Dalby" an equally amazing group of Church and community members who work together with love and laughter to host at least one social event every month ( and have done for over 40 years!) to help maintain our on-going building projects and overall restoration of our much loved church building! They are a brilliant and generous team who give continual time, energy and enthusiasm, organising our on-going diary of Events. A tenth of all our funds raised through the Friends events are given each year to a Manx charity working on the Island, and a Manx Charity operating overseas, the rest goes to Dalby Church Restoration Fund. |

Our vision for Dalby Church:
- To know the Source of all love in God and to share that love with the whole of Creation and with our neighbour, wherever they may be.
- To be a light in the community; a gateway to the presence of God, through who we are, as well as what we do. Where we support one another and grow together, developing our gifts and abilities through worship, unity and fellowship. That we may live truly as the Community of Christ.
- To develop Christian Knowledge: equipping our members to deepen their faith, to love and serve God through daily worship, meditation, prayer and study. For adults and children to come to know God through the discipleship journey of living the way of Jesus.
- To maintain a sacred building: that speaks of welcome and hospitality, whilst providing an environment of worship and prayer, sanctuary, peace, assurance & hope in a changing world.
- To foster community: creating unity through hospitality, sharing ideas, empowering others, providing support and facilities, and a meeting place for a range of events and activities for everyone, a place where people can gather in a safe, friendly, moral and ethical environment.
- To encourage fellowship, welcoming everyone of all ages, beliefs and culture so that they feel involved and part of our community; developing friendship and support to all in need, both mentally, physically and spiritually
- To demonstrate Christian principles of seeking justice and equality for all through promoting and living out a change in stewardship and financial practice, ecological sustainability, and respect and compassion for the whole of Gods’ creation by change of life styles, campaigning and working for local and global justice.
- To put our words into action through our commitment to Fairtrade, the Eco Church initiative, and The UNESCO Biosphere Pledge.
- To maintain our shared culture, Manx heritage and traditions that we may value and respect our own rural traditions and environment and work to promote and celebrate them within our local and wider community.
