A Community Project : The Dalby Cook Book
True hospitality is marked by an open response
to the dignity of each and every person.
Henri Nouwen has described it as receiving the stranger on his or her own terms,
and asserts that it can be offered only by those
who "have found the center of their lives in their own hearts."
Kathleen Norris
"Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!" Paul Hebrews 13.2

The Community Hub : The launch of the cook book co-insided with the launch of a much larger project to redevelop the basement of the church which had fallen into disrepair due to on-going problems with damp. All proceeds from sales after costs have gone directly to help fund the maintenance and fitting out of the Dalby Community Hub, renovating the two unused rooms of the basement to create a local village shop, which runs as a not-for-profit community shop to serve the local community, whilst also giving visitors the opportunity to buy local goods and produce.
The other room is used as a multi-purpose meeting space for use by the young people and village community. This includes workshop/classroom facilities, games area, a community exhibition and comfortable and informal meeting space. St James, was originally designed as church school in 1839, and this a new chapter in its role of serving the people of Dalby and beyond.
The official launch of “A Slice of Dalby” was held on 30th October 2015.
Books are available to buy at Greens Tea Rooms St Johns and St. James schoolrooms.
