Mooinjer Veggey ( the Little People) Meet weekly at Dalby schoolrooms from 9.30am - 11.30am
On the 3rd Wednesday of the month they will meet in the Church or Hub from 9.30am - 10.30am only for story telling and song only.

Dalby Soup Stop : serving from 12.30pm - 1.30pm

The third Wednesday of the Month
We run the Dalby Soup Stop in the schoolrooms serving from 12.30 - 1.30pm. It offers a range of home made soups, with bread and butter, cakes and coffee. Anyone is welcome to drop by and catch up on the skeet and join us for lunch. No charge, but a minimum donation of £7.50p is suggested, though contributions are entirely voluntary.
Dalby Movies :
Every second Saturday (7.30) and fourth Tuesday (2.30pm) in the month. October to April Everyone welcome, no need to book just come along and join us. There’s no admission but we do need donations to help us cover our costs ... refreshments are provided, but feel free to bring your own wine or beer for the evening sessions if you want. If you know anyone who’d like to come but needs transport please let Cheryl know, and we’ll see if we can arrange a lift. Flyers are available in the schoolrooms Look forward to seeing you! We're very grateful for the support from the Isle of Man Arts Council for the grant funding they have given to Dalby Church to buy the screen, projector and sound system for our regular cinema sessions . |

Meditation : The Practice of Stillness & Silence
We meet to share teaching and practice together on the 2nd and 4th Thursday in the month from 7.30pm to 9.00pm in Dalby schoolrooms.
Meditation is about being still both inwardly and outwardly. In the busyness of our lives it brings a quiet centredness, an awareness of “Being”, and an awakening of our spirit. At Dalby we follow the practice of the World Community for Christian Meditation from the Benedictine teaching of John Main. If you’d like to find out more about the practice you’d be very welcome, you don’t need to have done it before to come and join us. If you’d like more information please ring Cheryl on 843471.

More regular events and initiatives ................................
Sunday Cake & Coffee ; This is a carbon-saving initiative with a regular 12+ meeting every Sunday morning for a couple of hours in the schoolrooms to collect their Sunday papers & have a chat. We have a rota for someone to go and collect papers on behalf of the group, the rest of us just struggle in for the coffee.
If you live in the village and would like to get your papers collected, have a word with Kevin.
The Courier drop : the weekly Courier is a free all-Island paper dropped off at the schoolrooms and available for anyone who wants to stop by to collect it; feel free to help yourself to tea and coffee and home made flap jacks whilst you’re visiting!
"Shopping Mall” Dalby style : There's a bric-a- brac table and odds and ends, books, home-made jams and cards in the schoolrooms; this is extended to include surplus fresh veggies from local gardens, and organic apples.... as well as Fresh farm veg from our roadside stall throughout the winter. The schoolrooms are open daily
Co-operative Jam making : Surplus soft fruit and jam jars are shared and we have an amazing Jam maker who keeps us supplied with every variation of summer fruits throughout the year which are regularly on sale in the schoolrooms.
Community Freezer & catering : there's a freezer in the basement for big events, but in between anyone in the community is welcome to make use of iyou’re doing mass catering. Similarly crockery and cutlery, tables and chairs can be borrowed by Dalby folk, but please first let us know what your taking !

Community Initiatives : The Colours of Creation
We spent many weeks working together to complete a community weaving project, 5ftx3ft of an image of the view of the white beach from the cliff path. Almost all the material to make up the weaving was from recycled clothes donated by people in the village. Initially we had up to seven people at a time working on it, from both top and base at the same time, Grannies to toddlers! As time wore on and the space left to fill was reduced, it was left to a few very dedicated souls to complete and finish, a very time consuming but noble task because it looks great! Some many months and hundreds of work hours later, over 44 ”Dalbyites” have taken part in creating this amazingly colourful creation that was finally put on display in the church. |
